A STUN GUN is a legal*
electronic device that puts out a high voltage, low amperage shock.
Stun guns work by passing a high voltage pulse through a person's muscle and
nervous system. It dumps its energy into the muscles at a high pulse frequency
that makes the muscles work very rapidly, but not efficiently. This rapid work
cycle depletes blood sugar by converting it into lactic acid all in just
seconds. The resulting energy loss makes it difficult to move and function. At
the same time, the tiny neurological impulses that travel throughout the body to
direct muscle movement are interrupted. This will cause the person to feel weak,
disoriented and have loss of balance for several minutes, giving you time to get
away. A one-half second contact will repel and startle an attacker, making them
think twice about continuing an attack. One to two seconds of contact will cause
muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. Contact for at least 3 to 5 seconds will
cause loss of balance and muscle control, mental confusion and disorientation.
Stun guns are safe
to use, you will not get a shock even if you are in contact with the
person being stunned. There is no question that the higher the voltage the
quicker and more devastating the effects. If you are a woman
looking for the safest and most effective means of protection, a
pepper spray
may be a better choice. You do not need to be in contact with your
assailant which may be dangerous if the attacker is large. However I
would really recommend carrying both if possible since this gives you
another option if one or the other fails or is dropped. Also do not
discount the startling effect of the bright arc and snapping sound a
stun gun makes. When fired in the air this is sure to make an attacker
think twice about choosing you as his victim.

cannot ship stun guns to certain states and cities due to regulations.
